Enrichment Wish List -
click here for our general wish list
These are some items we're
looking for to liven up life in our shelter and make our animals' stay
here a walk in the park!

-
Canine
puzzle/treat toys. Kongs, Dogzilla, Buster Cubes, Jolly Balls,
etc. These fun toys provide
mental activities for dogs.
-
Non-toxic potted plants. Favorites are low maintenance plants
like potted bamboo and ferns. Check out
www.aspca.org
for a complete list of non-toxic plants. Plants
provide a natural way for our cats
to feel comfortable and safe in a shelter environment.
-
Small, battery operated fountains. Fountains are a great
way to drown out kennel noise. Watching water flow is not
only visual stimulation for our animals, but it can lower
heart rates and stress.
-
Wind chimes. Wind chimes provide both visual and hearing
enrichment for our animals.
-
Essential oils (orange, lemon, lavender, etc.) and
diffusers, spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.) and cooking
extracts like vanilla and almond. New and exciting smells
encourage animals to become more interested in their
surroundings. Their noses are always working, and novel
smells are a welcome change!
- Fresh catnip and pet grass. Gives our cats an exciting
change, and encourages natural behaviors like chewing on
fresh vegetation.
