Adoption Application

When you visit the shelter and see a companion animal that you would like to adopt, we will ask you to fill out an application for adoption. Applications are completed and processed the same day.  If you complete the application ahead of visiting, please open the application file, save to your computer, complete and save the application to your computer, and email the completed application file to

We ask that all family members meet the adoptable animal prior to the adoption being approved. If you are adopting a dog and have another dog in your household, we ask that you bring in your dog to meet their potential new companion.

We do check home ownership or seek landlord approval as part of the adoption process.  Home ownership can usually be verified the same day and we attempt to verify landlord approval same day.

If you adopt a puppy (under 6 months old) from the shelter, we require you attend a 3-week puppy training class which includes 3 weeks of training with you and your new puppy.  This class is held at the shelter and is run by a certified dog trainer. Dates will be shared with you at the time of adoption and your puppy will be registered for class.  There is a $50 fee for this class that is added on to your adoption fee. **  You can take this class at another facility and send us a copy of your graduation certificate for a refund of your $50 fee!

We understand that due to location, timing constraints, or past experience working with another trainer or training club, you may prefer to take your puppy to a class elsewhere.  At the time of adoption, we still require the $50 puppy class fee; however, if you choose to go elsewhere, we will refund that fee when you present a certificate from a professional trainer that you have completed a puppy or basic obedience class.
