VOLUNTEER AT EBHS
Volunteers play an important role at EBHS as they allow us to offer high quality
care to our animals while helping to contain costs. Volunteers can be found in
all aspects of our organization from those who assist with special events to
those who work hand in hand with our staff. Currently we have over 200
volunteers that help with everything from brushing cats and dogs, cleaning
their cages, cleaning the shelter and doing front office work.
Please
note that our volunteers work only during our open hours which are
Monday through Friday 8am - 6pm and on weekends starting at 8am
through 5pm. We do have opportunities outside of those hours at
special events for the shelter usually at off-site locations. We also
require a six month commitment and expect at least a two hour a week
commitment from all volunteers.
Volunteers must complete a
training session in the area they wish to specialize in before they
can start coming in regularly.

Students aged 16 and up will learn many aspects
of animal care while participating in a variety of shelter activities. We accept
Parent/Youth teams for pairs with a child at least 13 years old who
will be supervised by a parent. Adults
don't have to feel left out; you can also participate in shelter activities,
fundraising, and our numerous special events. WE DO WORK WITH COMMUNITY
SERVICE VOLUNTEERS.
Adult Volunteer Application (for anyone 18 and over!)
Youth Volunteer Application (for youth volunteers 13 and up -
remember, a parent will have to volunteer with you in most cases until
you are 16 which will require an adult application to be sent in along
with yours. No one under age 18 will be able to handle animals without
parental supervision - which means shelter volunteering for those
under 18 without a parent will not involve animal interaction).
Foster Care
Application Must be 18 or over!
Can't make it to the shelter?
We always have bright new ideas for raising funds for our animals and different
ways to include our community. We may even have something you can help us with
from home!
- Bring us your aluminum cans, and we'll take
them to a recycling center. Or take your cans directly to the Waukesha
Recycling Co., 1001 Tesch Court, and tell them to credit EBHS.
- Shop at Pick 'N' Save and designate EBHS
(201550) on your Advantage card.
- Bring in an item from our Wish List. We can
also use food, animal care items, office and cleaning supplies and a variety
of other items.
- We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because
they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. If you would like to donate
a bed to us, click
here.
- Finally, you can make a donation to support
our work. A portion of proceeds from the following sites goes to EBHS:
